Brooklyn: Dead guy ID'd

The dead guy found on East 58th Street and Avenue U in Brooklyn's Mill Basin, was Carmine Carini Jr., the son of a mob boss.

Carini, 35, was discovered Saturday in the water wrapped in a blue tarp with a cinder block tied to his legs by electrical cord.

The cause of death was due to blunt-force trauma to the head and he suffered multiple stab wounds to the arms and legs.

Police reported that Carini's dad, was a member of the Colombo crime family, not the yogurt company by the same name.

Carmine Carini Sr. spent about 25 years in the slammer for a murder of a record-shop owner in 1983, before i-Tunes came out, which may have saved his life. Carmine Sr. was later cleared after two mob informants revealed that it was his cousins who were responsible for the murder.

However, this not-so-upstanding citizen was sent back to prison the following year after a number of home robberies pointed to him.

It is believed that Carmine Jr. was not tied to organized crime, NYPD detective chief Robert Boyce said at a news conference, although the photo header appears to have been taken by law enforcement.

"He was a goo boy," one of his associates said, and wishes to remain anonymous due to his desire to continue turning oxygen into carbon dioxide.
