Trump slams media and blames Lynch for Russian lawyer situation

It isn't every day that President Trump slams the media--who am I kidding?

Trump lashed out at the media and Obama administration Thursday regarding barrage of criticism for Donald Trump Jr. is getting for the 2016 meeting he took with a Russian lawyer who he was led to believe had damaging information on Hillary Clinton.

Trump addressed this issue at a joint news conference he and French President Emmanuel Macron shared. The first question Trump received asked about this to which he said that the media are making "a very big deal over something that really a lot of people would do."

He then spoke about Obama's AG Loretta "Tarmac" Lynch, saying he'd "heard" Lynch was the one to approve the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya's visa.

This reference was over reports that Lynch signed off on granting Veselnitskaya a special "parole" to be in the United States, since she had previously been denied a visa.

However, it isn't clear whether she had permission to be int the US at the time of the June 2016 meeting.

"Somebody said that her visa or her passport to come into the country was approved by Attorney General Lynch, now maybe that's wrong, I just heard that a little while ago . . . [that] she was here because of Lynch."

Sometimes President Trump makes it sound like he gets his information while doing clothes at the Laundromat.

Like a good father, Trump Sr. defended Trump Jr. against criticism.

"My son is a wonderful young man. He took a meeting with a Russian lawyer, not a government lawyer but a Russian lawyer," Trump said in that extremely very, very redundant way he has.

"From a practical standpoint, most people would have taken that meeting; it's called opposition research or research into your opponent," he said.

The Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley said that Trump Jr. will be called to testify amid Russian meddling investigations over last year's election.

He said he wants him to testify "pretty soon," and it might be as early as next week. He said that he would be willing to issue a subpoena if he refused to appear, but that isn't likely.
