Obama sees no evil because he doesn't want to

The Obama administration announced Thursday that it's getting rid of a once-mandatory registry for immigrant men from predominantly Muslim countries, as there is growing speculation that Donald Trump may try to renew it.

The program known as National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERs) was first launched a year after 9/11 and was halted in 2011. It required men and boys from mostly Middle Eastern countries and North Korea to register with the federal government upon arrival in the U.S.

After Obama suspended the program in 2011, the Department of Homeland Security put out a notice Thursday officially removing what they called "outdated regulations" pertaining to an "obsolete " system.

But the notice comes amid growing international terror fears and Trump's suggestions that he might ban some Muslim immigrants trying to enter the U.S. after the Berlin terrorist attack in which a truck attack killed 12 and injured 48 others.

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, a Trump immigration adviser during the campaign, said last month that Trump should renew the DHS database.
