The Red Line in the Sand and the Tide

The Liar in Chief has told Syria, as he did a year ago today, that if the Syrian government uses chemical weapons, there will be consequences. It turns out that, so far, the consequences are about 100 dead Syrians. It's as if Obama has drawn an imaginary line in the sand and an imaginary tide has come in and washed it away. He talks, he warns, he does nothing.

How does this affect America's credibility in the world? Do I really have to tell you? The Syrian rebels don't trust us and even before they didn't trust us, they weren't too crazy about us in the first place.

In Egypt, the kebabs have also hit the proverbial fan with Muslim Brotherhood rebels clashing with the government's military. It seems Morsi lied to the people about how he would govern. They didn't like the fact that he did away with their constitution and yanked people out of office, replacing them with Islamist stooges. But in the case of Egypt, it seems like our Liar in Chief is backing the Muslim Brotherhood because he isn't sending aid to the country, which would help support the military, and he isn't calling the military takeover a "coup," because that would mean he's taking an actual position since the law forbids the USA from supporting foreign coups. For Obama to do that, he would actually have to stand behind his convictions, and that would make him culpable for the butchery that the Muslim Brotherhood wreaks on the rest of the population.

We have a Commander in Chief who would rather play cards than  command; would rather be vague than clearly stand behind an issue, and who, like Morsi, would rather shred our Constitution than honor his promise to uphold and defend it.

After at least 13 episodes of the use of chemical weapons in Syria, the red line in the sand has washed away, while the yellow line on Obama's back grows thicker and more vivid. Nobody believes your words anymore, Mr. President, except the low information, liberal "hangers-on," who would vote for Obama and the Democrats even if he killed their dog and ate it.
