High Drama in Politics

The O Ship is taking on water; the crew is thinking of jumping ship. Bernie Sanders (Ind. VT) thinks the GOP has won large in the budget talks and 7 Senate Democrats voted against the debt bill to support this view. Wolf "I need to take a breath" Blitzer is even questioning whether or not Obama will be reelected, but Sanders thinks there's a possibility. Sanders worries that jobs will be lost, kids will be left out of Project Head Start (a program that has been as effective as a divining rod finding water in an Arabian desert), and the country will be going down the tubes, but CNN continues to advocate for Obama and his campaign as a good leftist media should.

Gabrielle Giffords showed up last night on the Senate floor, and while some may think the timing of her return is nothing more than theater, I'd rather like to think of it as high drama--after all, the Democrats are counting on her to bring in more sympathy votes for the O Team in 2012, and I doubt they'll let her disappoint them.  Remember when that lunatic Loughner killed all those people and seriously wounded her, the liberals immediately jumped on the bandwagon to denounce gun rights, and said the shooter had to be conservative pro-gun nut job. Well, it turned out that he was known as a liberal to those who know him, and pretty much non-political. But when Giffords arrived, her colleagues cried, sniffled, had runny noses, and for some, it "literally took their breath away," according to CNN. I certainly hope that those poor souls whose breaths were "literally taken away" have recovered from lack of oxygen .  .  .  literally.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta feels Giffords is doing well, but she still has a lot of recovery time ahead of her. Blitzer asked Gupta her about her speaking ability since the injury, and he believes that it should be okay. But the question I would have asked would've been about whether her judgment might have been affected from the shooting. If so, then it is incumbent upon her to step down--yet we all know that stepping down will never happen before the 2012 election because Obama needs her; the Democrats need her because they need to play on voter's feelings, rather than their intellect.
